Collection: Estate 1856

Located in the heart of Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County, Estate 1856 is a boutique, family-owned winery specializing in small, hand-crafted lots of estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petit Verdot.

Brian and Janice Schmidt proudly carry on a tradition of farming their ancestors land originally purchased in 1856 by Duvall Drake Phillips, the first generation to live and farm in Dry Creek Valley.
Winemaker Janice Schmidt a graduate of U.C. Davis, refine her winemaking skills for over 20 years, working at well renowned wineries such as Jorden with Rob Davis and the legendary Andre Tchelistcheff.

Dry Creek Valley is located outside of the town of Healdsburg in Sonoma County, California. The terroir, including the influence of fog from the Russian River creates an ideal growing environment for our select premium varietals while using sustainable wine growing practices.
